Below are some details of the products Derren has released to the general public.

After Derren’s highly successful Mind Control series and specials, Inside Your Mind was released to the general public on DVD and VHS.

Inside Your Mind includes 13 clips from the Mind Control series and the DVD also includes an audio commentary, interview with Derren, unseen sequences including a ‘how I do it’ section from Derren, extracts from The 50 Greatest Magic Tricks, links from E4 Mind Control Night and trailers. It’s a good DVD – buy it!

Derren’s second DVD, Trick Of The Mind – Series 1 has also been released and has material from the first series of the same title. I could give you a review of the DVD, but when I ventured into HMV Derren’s DVD was sitting next to The Naked Pilgrim – Road To Santiago and we all know which one I bought. If you have more self control in your little finger, I suggest you buy it – there are funny, unseen clips.

Derren’s second DVD must have been a success because he released a sequel of it, aptly named Trick of the Mind Series 2. Go Derren for coming up with that title. He must have thought long and hard over that one.

The DVD features some of the effects from the second series of Tick of the Mind… oh, so that’s where the name came from. In this series, Derren takes his unique show out into the regions where dark stunts abound, such as a zombie arcade game equipped with subliminal messaging, which transports a young lad to a real-life version of the game. This DVD includes celebrity appearances by Jonathan and Jane Ross, Simon Pegg, Mo Mowlam, Iain Banks, Richard Madeley and Alistair McGowan, says Amazon. There’s also some voice overs and unseen stuff – the usual stuff that you never actually watch but buy the DVD for.

If you wish to see Derren eating a stick of rock in Blackpool, zombies and celebrities getting freaked out, hop over to Amazon.

Released in May 2008 is Derren Brown: Something Wicked This Way Comes which is a recording of his second tour of the live show with the same name, which was re-staged at the Old Vic Theatre. The show was awarded the Olivier Award in the Best Entertainment category – a great achievement for all those involved with the show.

Derren, the Cheaky Chappie, experiments with pain, apparent sumliminal imagery, magic and the usual showmanship. To buy click here.

Whilst the ever-popular books umoungst magicians – Pure Effect and Absolute Magic remain as such, Derren decided that he’d be a good man and release a book for the general public that didn’t tell you not to wear silly ties and waistcoats, to always think of your audience or to practice, practice lying: ‘no the sponge rabbit did just disappear’. Instead this book reveals secrets that magican reveal – the ‘not the secret or method’ – has rants about religion and paranormal, and stuff about lying and is esentially a whistle-stop tour of magic. Tricks Of The Mind is Derren’s first mass released book for general consumption.

Winner of the BAFTA for Best Entertainment programme, The Experiments sees unwitting members of the public take part in four sociological experiments.

The Assassin – Derren asks if is it possible to hypnotise someone to carry out an assassination. Derren looks for a profoundly suggestible member of the public, and secretly trains him to assassinate Stephen Fry.

The Gameshow – Derren hosts a fake game show designed to see how being anonymous and part of a crowd affects our sense of right and wrong. An unwitting member of the public, out on a Friday night, must suffer the consequences of decisions made by a studio audience watching his every move.

The Guilt Trip – an unsuspecting ‘nice guy’ is invited to take part in what purports to be a seminar in old country hotel. He has no idea that everyone he meets is an actor, and that he is taking part in a TV show designed to see if he can be made to admit to a murder he did not commit.

The Secret of Luck – an entire town is the subject of Derren’s experiment. With the help of journalist Dawn Porter, a rumour is spread in a remote town that a local statue of a dog brings good luck. As the story takes hold amongst the townsfolk, we see what really separates lucky from unlucky people and how we can create good luck for ourselves. The journey culminates in one man betting his entire life-savings on the roll of a dice.

Derren Brown’s fifth tour, entitled Svengali, opened on 9 March 2011 in Brighton and ran until 11 August 2012, finishing up with a second London run at the Novello Theatre. The show won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment Show 2012.

For those who saw the show to those who didn’t, you’ll enjoy this DVD.

Derren Brown’s sixth live stage show, Infamous, toured the UK from March 2013 and visited Ireland in 2014.

Pre-order Derren’s new book Happy.

Everyone says they want to be happy. But that’s much more easily said than done. What does being happy actually mean? And how do you even know when you feel it?
Across the millennia, philosophers have thought long and hard about happiness. They have defined it in many different ways and come up with myriad strategies for living the good life. Drawing on this vast body of work, in Happy Derren Brown explores changing concepts of happiness – from the surprisingly modern wisdom of the Stoics and Epicureans in classical times right up until today, when the self-help industry has attempted to claim happiness as its own. He shows how many of self-help’s suggested routes to happiness and success – such as positive thinking, self-belief and setting goals – can be disastrous to follow and, indeed, actually cause anxiety. This brilliant, candid and deeply entertaining book exposes the flaws in these ways of thinking, and in return poses challenging but stimulating questions about how we choose to live and the way we think about death.
Happy aims to reclaim happiness and to enable us to appreciate the good things in life, in all their transient glory. By taking control of the stories we tell ourselves, by remembering that ‘everything’s fine’ even when it might not feel that way, we can allow ourselves to flourish and to live more happily.
